CB kick off the season with a well earned 3 points at Abbey Rangers FC
1st Half.
Its fair to say CB we are on the front foot in the first half and were slightly edging things with a lot of possession. CB took the lead on 17 minutes from a well taken penalty by Nick Hardy. Nduka Azagba made a darting run in to the box and was pulled down to allow Nick Hardy to open his account for the season. Nick could of doubled his account after a neat passing move but shot straight at the keeper. Nduka saw a good effort hit the post. Abbey themselves had some chances to open there CCL account but failed to capitalise.
HT Abbey 0 - 1 CB
2nd Half
As expected Abbey came out fast in the 2nd half, with some good high tempo football, their was only one side in it for the 1st 15 mins with CB struggling to retain possession and matters were about to become even worse. An off the ball incident saw Stuart Bamford sent off on his CB Debut, by all accounts from both sides it was rather trivial. CB showed great determination in holding out for so long against a very organised Abbey side. CB doubled the score on 90 minutes with a rare 2nd half chance for Aston Ventour. 0-2 was a slightly flattering result for CB but 3 points is 3 points.
Barry Chapman was happy to open the season with a win. " We did ok in the fast half a probably deserved to be in front, the second half we showed we are happy to dig in and work hard to secure the result. We showed great spirit as a group which I hope bodes well for the rest of the season"
