CB making a habit of giving head starts.

CB players went on the pitch with the message of " Dont give anything away early" after recently developing a habit of giving away early goals.

Inside the 1st minute a sloppy pass across the CB defence led to Abbey nicking the ball, Alex Wines rushed out, making contact with the Abbey player and the ref pointed to the spot. Abbey's D.Hartlebury stepped up and calmly slotted home to put Abbey 1 up in the first minute. No complaints about what seemed to be an unjust penalty.Abbey and CB supporters alike situated behind the goal saying the keeper got the ball , hopefully these things, even themselves out over the season, we understand that referees don't make these decisions with the intention of getting it wrong.

The game then settled down with both sides having a pretty even share of possession. CB as usual, not making the most of a handful of great deliveries from set pieces. Jordan Vidal had a great effort brilliantly pushed on the post by the impressive Liam Stone between the sticks for Abbey.

HT CB 0 - 1 Abbey

For the 1st time this season the CB manager had a tea cup moment during the interval with a definite rise of volume in the team talk. The boys came in to the noise from the Abbey dressing room, clearly happy coming in at half time 1 goal to the good.

The 2nd half started with Abbey dominating early possession, 5 minutes in to the 2nd half and CB began growing in to the game with Jordan Ireland imposing himself more in the middle of the park. It took until the 71st minute for CB to break down the impressive Abbey with Jordan Vidal scoring from an acute angle to make it 1-1. Cooki ( Nduka Azagba ) came off the bench to replace the returning Nick Hardy , it was less than a minute for him to make an impression when he neatly put away a delightful through ball from Jordan Vidal to put CB 2-1 up. Alex Wines pulled of one good save of note in the second half, Abbey had some good spells of possession without really calving out any clear chances. The very impressive Paul Hodge always looked lively for Abbey and will cause many a back line problems.

CB wound down the clock in the last few minutes retaining the ball, keeping it in the corner and was pleased to hear the whistle and secure all 3 points.

FT CB 2-1 Abbey Rangers FC

Good luck to Abbey Rangers for the rest of the season they pushed CB hard all day, as predicted on the 1st game of the season they will definitely finish in the top 6 and may push for a promotion place.
