1st Team 2-1 Home Victory after 2 weeks lay off due to rainy weather

CB Hounslow 2 V 1 Farnborough North End

After 2 more weeks of twiddling our thumbs we finally got a game of footy.

Our opponents had a score to settle.

When we played them earlier in the season, we came back from 3-1 down to nick the points in the last few minutes and they weren’t happy.

Bad news from the start, our centre half Baz turned up on crutches, Fossy was just recovering from a bout of food poisoning and with Hesham and Gaz suspended, we were very much on the back foot.

But as they have done in recent weeks, the lads that came in done a great job.

CB started very well, we kept the ball, attacked with speed and direction and had them defending for the lives from the outset.

Our back 4, led by Stirls the skipper for the day were rock solid and Mickey, Jerome and Nathan in midfield were dominating the game.

With half an hour gone Aaron was put thru on goal, with 1 touch and a cracking shot the top corner of the net bulged 1-0 half time.

The second half started just how the 1st ended with CB on the attack.

The football was excellent, and the team spirit inspiring. Pete hobbling around on the bench, and Tom with his Carry on Camping humour makes my job so easy, and you can see the confidence rubbing off on the players.

This was clearly demonstrated when young Mikey collected a ball on the edge of the box and with 2 touches controlled and curled a shot in the far top corner, leaving the keeper stranded 2-0 and cruising.

Just as we were starting to enjoy the game, Tracey’s orange squash started to kick-in and we lost concentration at a crucial moment.

Their striker was served up a quality thru ball and buried it in the top bins for 2-1.

Thankfully we never panicked, we just continued passing and keeping possession and saw the game out.

Very pleasing game and result, well done lads.

Next game at home to Knaphill Thursday 10th 7.30 kick off (to be played at Bedfont Sports, Hatton Road)

I would like take this opportunity to mention our midfield player Jamie Pavis.

Jamie’s partner had a baby boy last weekend, but there were huge complications. As it stands at the moment things have improved a great deal, but he is still very poorly. I’m sure all of you will join me, wishing him, his partner and their son all the best and a speedy recovery.

Our thoughts are with you mate
