Warlingham FC 2-4 CB HOUNSLOW UNITED FC

CB Hounslow finally registered their first win of the season in a competitive match against Warlingham at Whyteleaf. Warlingham were quickest out of the blocks but CB soon started to get up to match speed. This was highlighted by a 14th minute strike by recently signed forward Mark Meremikwu. He chased a through ball, beating the offside and sliding the ball home past the keeper. As with London buses the second followed 4 minutes later when Meremikwu grabbed his second. A great solo run by Bartley into the penalty area resulted in the ball being laid back to Meremikwu who fired an unstoppable shot into the net. Warlingham came back into the game with their first goal, a simple ball played beyond the CB defence and the striker placed the ball neatly passed Karrahi in goal. The first half offered several opportunities for both teams to score but it was CB who took one of their chances. A quick free kick and good combination play left Bekele Mukudi open in the area and he found the Warlingham net to score a deserved goal. The whistle blow and CB Hounslow went in 3-1 to the good.

It was CB Hounslow who started the quickest in the second half and after 10 seconds the ball was in the Warlingham net. Superb pressure from Ken Harrison and Jack Martin forced Warlingham to play back from the kick off. The ball ended up with the keeper and the pressure told as he was unable to clear the ball and Harrison pounced onto the free ball to guide it into the net from a few yards. There then ensued a tactical battle between the management teams as Warlingham pressed to try to get back into the game and CB Hounslow sought to maintain their lead. The tactical changes also led to personnel changed with Andre James introduced at 48 mins for Guy Farrier, on 60 mins Peter Martin replacing Mukudi. The contest remained close with Warlingham shading the chances but only converting one of them. A good period of passing sliced the CB Hounslow defence apart and the ball was neatly netted. The pressure continued but as the game progressed they became fewer and fewer. AJ Dawkins came on for the last 15 mins to replace Meremikwu who had worked tirelessly for 75 mins.
