Quarter Final of the Grant McLellan Cup
Bedfont Sports Vs CB Hounslow U18s
Thursday 25th February 2016

Tonight we travelled all the way to Bedfont Sports for the Quarter Final of the Grant McLellan Cup facing a Ryman outfit, holder of this cup for the past 2 years consecutively & unbeaten this season so far. The CB Hounslow players knew we had a good opportunity to showcase the style of football we play & the development of our U18s Elite set up (only been established for 2 years). Thank you to all that came to watch us, your attendance was noticed and appreciated by all.

We started bright & with passion, our football was good to watch & we did have the lion share of possession but just couldn’t find that clinical finishing that has eluded us all season. Bedfont went ahead in the game via a very good header, however, that was really the best they gave but good enough to see them lead the first half.

Half Time 1-0

Second half:

CB Hounslow Players come out with good intentions showing, as they did the first half, that they understand our principles of play using them well & making life hard for Bedfont, unfortunately, Bedfont scored another questionable goal which effectively killed us, the boys did keep pushing forwards and still looking the better team but again without the rewards, not taking chances & If I am honest not really having the threat in front of goal that would have taken us through.

Full time losing 2-0 Out of the Cup

Over All very impressed with the way we played & the desire shown by our players it’s a true show of passion and commitment to CB Hounslow United Football Club. I have a good bond with the boys & yes they are disappointed, however, they also understand that they have taken lessons from this game & the build up towards achieving a quarter final place. We wish Bedfont good luck in the Semi’s

CB Hounslow United U18s showed to all that we are a development team & each and every player should be proud of their own development individually & the achievements gained getting to 3 Quarter Finals this season.. That’s is a huge achievement considering we only started the 18s 2 years ago.

Next up, League action away to Fleet & the Quarter Final of the Challenge Cup. Let’s keep up the good performances and the results will come

Lessons & learning is what these games give us Well Done CB Hounslow U18 players
